Jaguar F-Pace Auto Start/Stop Not Working
If Auto Stop/Start never kicks in on an F-Pace, the battery is the first suspect even when it starts the car every time — the system only stops the engine on a battery close to full. Short trips and long stands keep it below that line; a battery with one weak cell never gets there.

Safe to drive — you only lose stop/start
It's often the first sign of a battery on its way out. Have the battery tested before it leaves you stranded.
Which one applies to yours depends on your symptoms, your model year and what has already been done to it.
Likely causes, most common first
Read the check cost before the odds: a free check that rules a cause out beats a likely guess that costs money.
A battery with a weak cell
Stop/start needs a battery close to full. One slightly bad cell holds the charge below that while the car still starts normally.
It worked briefly or never; dealer charges and updates make no lasting difference.
A proper load test. Anything over three years old is suspect.
A new AGM battery, registered to the car.
Low charge from short trips and long stands
In winter the heaters and demisters take most of what the alternator gives, so short runs never fill the battery, and weeks parked drain it.
The car stands for weeks or only does short journeys.
Charge it fully — two or three days on a good maintainer often brings stop/start back — or take a long run.
A long run or a full charge on the bonnet posts; a maintainer twice a year keeps it there.
A new battery that was never registered
After a battery change the battery monitor has to be told; until then it may keep stop/start off.
Stop/start disappeared when the battery was replaced.
Ask whether the BMS was reset.
A BMS reset with a tool that supports the F-Pace — an Autel AP200 worked after several attempts, an iCarSoft LR V2.0 didn't. Stop/start can take a couple of days to return; some say 30 minutes of steady driving helps.
A stored battery-low fault code
A battery-low fault in memory can disable stop/start even after the battery is healthy again.
The battery tests fine but stop/start stays off.
Read the codes.
Clearing the code brought it back for good; if the battery ran very low it may need a dealer reset.
The order to check them in
The point of the order is money: each step either rules a cause out or makes the next one worth doing. Green is free, amber costs a little, red is the one to arrive at last.
Check the conditions
It won't stop the engine with the A/C on full, in very hot or very cold weather, while towing, or when the battery wants charge. It works in every drive mode.
freeCharge it fully
A maintainer on the bonnet posts overnight or longer. If stop/start comes back, the battery was low, not broken.
cheapLoad-test the battery
If it never works, replacement is often the cheapest fix.
cheapRead and clear the codes
A stored battery-low code keeps it off.

cheapTurning it off
The button only cancels it until the next start, and the settings can't keep it off. From Pivi Pro 3.3 it can go on the programmable steering wheel button. Unplugging the battery monitor connector in the right rear of the boot stops it too, but it resets some settings and leaves the charging system without its battery sensor.
