Which model years this covers
This pinout covers the XK8 (X100), early head unit of 1997, 1998, 1999. One table serves every one of those years: within a head unit generation the connector and the wire colours do not change.
Other years of this model carry a different head unit — 2000–2006 MY on IC19, IC20. See that pinout.

Common questions
Which wire is the 12 V constant on the XK8 (X100), early head unit radio connector?
IC10 pin 10, wire colour NP (Brown with Purple tracer). It stays live with the key out: this is the memory feed.
Which wire is the illumination feed on the XK8 (X100), early head unit?
IC10 pin 3, wire colour RU (Red with Blue tracer). It follows the panel lights and dims with them.
What are the speaker wire colours on the XK8 (X100), early head unit?
DRIVER DOOR SPEAKER — pin 6, PO; DRIVER DOOR SPEAKER — pin 7, PK; DRIVER SIDE REAR QUARTER SPEAKER — pin 8, BY; DRIVER SIDE REAR QUARTER SPEAKER — pin 9, KB; PASSENGER DOOR SPEAKER — pin 17, SO; PASSENGER DOOR SPEAKER — pin 18, SK; PASSENGER SIDE REAR QUARTER SPEAKER — pin 19, BG; PASSENGER SIDE REAR QUARTER SPEAKER — pin 20, KW.
What connector does the XK8 (X100), early head unit head unit use?
The head unit sits on IC10. Jaguar colour codes are not the aftermarket standard, so match an adapter by pin number, not by wire colour.
Notes and caveats
1996 cars. A car first registered in 1996 is a 1997 model year and belongs here.
Later cars differ. From 2000 the radio moves to two connectors, IC19 and IC20, with an entirely different wire set. Use the 2000–2006 sheet.
Premium system differs. On a car with the Premium system the speaker pins are not wired at all: pins 6–9 and 17–20 are absent, the head unit feeds a power amplifier and the amplifier drives the speakers. This sheet is the Standard system.
No ground pin. IC10 carries no ground: pins 10 and 11 are both B+, from fuses 45 and 22 (fuse 47 in place of 45 on a 1997 car). Do not assume a ground here without checking the car.
Which side is which. The 1997–1999 guide names the speakers by driver and passenger side and never says which physical side that is. The 2001 and later guides rename the same speaker connectors — RH26, RH27, FC38, FC39 — to LH and RH side, and the two namings agree only if "driver side" here means the right-hand side. The pin numbers themselves do not change with the steering wheel; the side names on this sheet are the ones the guide uses.
* Pins 1, 12, 13. A 1997 car is wired differently at this end. Pin 1 is NP and a third B+ feed, from fuse 46; vehicle speed sits on pin 12 and is UW; pin 13 is not used, and the telephone group is only pins 14, 15 and 16. From 1998 vehicle speed moves to pin 1 and pins 12 and 13 join the telephone group. Read from all three revisions.
** Pin 14. The colour changed from PO to P at VIN 024687 — the guide says so itself. Every 1997 car and an early 1998 car have PO here.
*** Pins 8, 9, 19, 20. Convertible colours. On a Coupe pin 8 is BS, pin 9 is KP, pin 19 is BW and pin 20 is KG; the rest of the connector is the same. Identical in all three revisions.
Which head unit is fitted
Head units this fits. Alpine — LJB4100AA (AJ9850R), LJB4100BA (AJ9850A), LJB4100CA (AJ9850J). XK8 (X100) 1997–1999.
Not sure which unit is in the car? Look it up by part number.
Not sure of the model year? Decode your VIN — on this car it decides which head unit you have.
