Notes and caveats
Premium or Audiophile. The XJ has two audio systems, and the guides swap the names half way through. This sheet is the one that drives the speakers straight from the audio unit: the guides call it Audiophile ICE in 2004 and 2005 and Premium ICE from 2006. The other system has no speaker wires at the audio unit at all — the sound leaves on the D2B optical network and a separate amplifier drives the speakers, so on such a car only pins 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 17, 18 and 19 are used.
* Pins 14, 16. Corrected. The 2006 and 2008 guides print “REAR” here, repeating the wording already used for pins 3 and 5. The 2004 and 2005 MY XJ guides print FRONT for the same two pins, as do the X-Type and S-Type guides, and the circuit sheet runs them to the front doors.
