Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing a module

Which module fits my Jaguar?
It depends on the model and year. XK8/XKR (1996–2006), XJ8 X308, X300 and XJ40 have the classic module. The 2003–2009 XJ (X350/X358), S-Type 2002–2008 and X-Type share one module, in Standard and Premium versions. The S-Type 1999–2001 and the XK 2006–2010 have their own. All of them are in the shop.
Standard or Premium audio — how do I check?
XJ X350, S-Type 2002–2008, X-Type: press Mode once on the radio — if there is a Sub setting, it’s Premium; if not, Standard. XK8 and XJ8 from 2000: look for the amplifier on the rack above the CD changer in the boot. Before 2000, X300, XJ40, S-Type 1999–2001: nothing to check — one version fits. See the XK8 guide for a photo of the amplifier.
Does my radio need a working CD drive?
On the XJ X350, S-Type 2002–2008 and X-Type — yes: the module plays through the radio’s CD mode, so the CD drive must work and a readable disc stays inside. A MiniDisc radio works the same way with a minidisc inside. On the other cars the module replaces the CD changer and no disc is needed. XJ / X-Type / S-Type module
Which module fits my S-Type?
1999–2001: the S-Type 1999–2001 module, one version for every audio system. 2002–2008: the XJ / X-Type / S-Type module, Standard or Premium.
How does the XK 2006–2010 module work?
The 2006–2010 XK has a factory AUX input, and the module plays through it — music, navigation prompts and calls come through the car’s speakers. The steps are in the AUX activation guide.
Will it work with an aftermarket radio?
No — every module works with the factory Jaguar radio. If your original radio is still in the garage, put it back and it will work. All modules
Do you have anything for an XF, F-Type or another Jaguar?
My modules are made for the cars listed above. For any Jaguar there are free tools: the VIN decoder and the radio code generator.

Bluetooth module

How does it play music? Does it replace my radio?
Your factory radio stays as it is. On the XK8, XJ8 X308, X300, XJ40 and S-Type 1999–2001 the module takes the place of the CD changer. On the XJ X350, S-Type 2002–2008 and X-Type select CD mode — the sound comes from Bluetooth instead of the disc; a long press on Mute on the steering wheel switches between CD and Bluetooth. XJ / X-Type / S-Type guide
Will my CD changer still work?
On the XJ X350, S-Type 2002–2008 and X-Type — yes, it isn’t touched. On the other cars the module uses the changer’s connection, so the changer makes way for Bluetooth. XK8 guide
Will my steering wheel buttons work?
Yes — skip tracks and pause from the wheel, as with the original CD. On the XK8 and XJ8 X308 the radio buttons work too, and in a call >> answers and << ends it. XK8 guide
Can I make hands-free calls?
Yes — every module has hands-free calling with its own microphone, cable 3 m (10 ft). Music pauses during a call. The other person may hear a soft echo of their own voice — it doesn’t get in the way of talking. All modules
My car has a factory Bluetooth phone — what happens to it?
It keeps working. Leave it for calls and use JAGAUX for music, or use JAGAUX for both. X350 phone guide
How good is the sound?
The XJ / X-Type / S-Type modules have Bluetooth 5.1 with LDAC, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX and AAC. The sound goes in before the radio’s amplifier, so your balance, fade and tone settings stay. Module page

Installation

Is it difficult to install?
It’s plug and play — no cutting, no soldering, and it can be removed with no trace. You take out the radio (or open the boot rack on a Premium XK8/XJ8) and plug the module in. Any garage can fit it too. Example: XK8 guide
Where are the installation instructions?
The radio asks for a code — what now?
It lost power during the work. Enter the code from the code card, or get it free with the radio code generator from the last 5 digits of the radio’s serial number. For the XJ40 see the reset video in the XJ40 guide.
Where does the module go on a Premium XK8 or XJ8?
In the boot, in place of the CD changer. If you want it at hand, the cable lets you bring it to the centre armrest. For calls from the boot, add a microphone extension — 3 m won’t reach the front. XJ8 guide
How do I update the firmware?
XK8, XJ8 X308, X300 and XJ40 modules: I send you the file, you copy it to a USB stick, plug it into the module’s USB port and switch on — it updates itself in about 30 seconds. XK8 guide

Android / CarPlay kit

What is the Android conversion kit?
It turns the factory navigation screen into a modern Android touchscreen — maps, apps, music — with CarPlay / Android Auto and a reversing camera as options. Climate, menus and audio stay as they were; Android opens with the NAV button. Android kit
Which Jaguars does the kit fit?
XJ (X350/X358), S-Type and X-Type (2002–2009) with the factory navigation screen and a CD radio, Standard or Premium audio. Kit options
My car has no navigation screen — can I still get the kit?
The kit needs the factory navigation head unit. You can add one with the retrofit harness and parts from a donor car — the retrofit article explains what to look for, and I’m happy to help.
Can I still play CDs with the kit?
Discs in the radio’s own drive make way for Android — the kit uses that path for its sound. The CD changer keeps working as usual. Kit guide
Can I make phone calls with the kit?
With the CarPlay option — it also does Android Auto — calls go through the kit’s microphone. Without it, WhatsApp, Telegram and other call apps work. Kit options
How long until I get the kit, and how long is the installation?
It’s made to order: about 2 months from order to shipping by FedEx Express, paid in full when you order. Installation takes 3–5 hours with Torx and Phillips screwdrivers — see the step-by-step guide before you order.

Orders, shipping, returns

How long does delivery take?
Modules in stock ship in 3–5 business days, tracked. By post about 7–16 days in Europe and 2–4 weeks elsewhere; FedEx Express 3–7 business days. Shipping details
Will I pay customs or import duties?
Parcels are sent from Serbia, so it depends on your country’s customs. In the USA, FedEx collects duties and a clearance fee on delivery — usually about $20. Shipping and customs
What if it doesn’t suit my car?
You have 90 days to return it for any reason, and every product has a 1-year warranty. If something doesn’t work after installing, write to me first — most often it’s quickly solved. Returns and warranty
How can I pay?
By card at checkout, or with Klarna where it’s offered for your country. Shipping and prices
